I regularly speak about street art, graffiti, public art, and Web3 at conferences, in films, and with the press.

I am always open to hearing about possible speaking opportunities, especially when invitations include information about how you’re planning your event so that it encompasses a range of experiences and viewpoints (no more panels full of straight-presenting white bros, please).

IP & Ski Conference: Trademark, Copyright & Patent Law. January 2023. Vail, Colorado. I joined Megan Bannigan (Debevoise & Plimpton), Laura Lewis (StockX) and Mark McKenna (UCLA Institute for Technology, Law & Policy) as a panelist on Everything You Need to Know About NFTs. As one of the only non-lawyers at a conference on intellectual property law, I gave a firsthand perspective on how artists and digital studios like Artwrld approach intellectual property questions.

New York Transit Museum and Poster House. November 2022. Virtual. Poster House and the New York Transit Museum partnered on Vignelli vs. Vigilantes/Art vs. Design, a panel with myself, artist Jilly Ballistic, and curator Jodi Shapiro on art and design in the New York City subway system.

Poster House. September 2022. New York City, NY. For Rips & Slices, three artists from the exhibition Masked Vigilantes in Silent Motorbikes (Caledonia Curry aka Swoon, Nicholas Fraser, and Galen Gibson-Cornell) came together at Poster House to discuss the use of collage and found material in their work. I moderated the panel.

Ljubljana Street Art Festival. June 2021. Ljubljana, Slovenia (remote). In my lecture Pandemic Public Space, I re-examined my book Viral Art in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Like in so many areas, the pandemic accelerated technological changes in art, in this case the continued blurring of lines between public space in the digital work and public space in the physical world.

The Municipal Art Society of New York. November 2019. New York City, NY. I joined Sergio Muñoz-Sarmiento, Wilfredo “Bio” Feliciano, and Carey Clark for a discussion of the Visual Artists Rights Act at MAS’s panel Closer LOOK: Artist Rights.

Creative Time Summit. November 2019. New York City, NY. Jordan Seiler and I led the breakout session Rapid Response Public Art, a workshop on creating art that disrupts the dominant narratives of our shared public spaces.

High Line / Monument Lab. October 2019. New York City, NY. I was a panelist at Monument Lab’s Public Think Tank on the High Line.

Moniker Art Fair. May 2019. New York City, NY. I joined Katherine Lorimer (aka Luna Park), Jordan Seiler, and moderator Josh MacPhee on the panel The War of Messaging: Ad Takeovers and the Fight for Your Attention.

Wall\Therapy. July 2018. Rochester, NY. I closed out Wall\Therapy’s second annual art and activism conference with his keynote presentation Beyond Wallpaper: The Practicalities and Possibilities of Claiming Space.

Vail Symposium. August 2017. Vail, CO. In a discussion moderated by Bill Rey, my dad and I discussed the major names and themes in street art and public art, and as well as the how to and ethics of “collecting street art.”

#ViralVandalsTalks. June 2017. Einhoven, the Netherlands. At the invitation of MU and Emoves, I gave a lecture and joined a panel about the future of graffiti with Isolde Hallensleben, Jasper van Es, Good Guy Boris (The Grifters), Matthieu Tremblin, and Mick La Rock.

The Art Conference. July 2016. London, UK. I advocated for a return to street art’s radical and dissident roots and away from mural festival plop art.

Openwalls Conference 2015. October 2015. Barcelona, Spain. Jordan Seiler and I spoke about their respective public art practices and held a conversation about the role of art in public space.

NYCxDESIGN. May 2015. New York City, NY. I moderated a conversation about the cultural value of public art with Ron English, Carlo McCormick, Sean Corcoran, Tatyana Fazlalizadeh, and Wayne Rada.

Banksy Does New York. November 2014. I appeared as an expert talking head in the HBO documentary about Banksy’s Better Out Than In “residency” in New York City.

Lawrence Technical University. November 2014. Southfield, MI. I spoke at LTU as part of their Architecture and Design Lecture Series.

Eastern Michigan University. November 2014. Ypsilanti, MI. I spoke about viral art and The Spectacle, expanding on ideas found in Viral Art.

Nuart. September 2014. Stavanger, Norway. For Nuart Plus, I participated in the annual pub debate (along with Evan Pricco, editor-in-chief of Juxtapoz, Maismenos, Mathieu Tremblin, and Eirik Sjåholm Knudsen), presented on how legal murals can be used to promote social change, and moderated a panel on street art and activism.

AIGA Philadelphia. April 2014. Space (AIGA’s gallery), Philadelphia, PA. My presentation Viral Art: Disruptions in The Spectacle from spray paint to Google Bombs covered viral art and The Spectacle, expanding on ideas found in Viral Art.

City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. October 2013. Mural Arts headquarters, Philadelphia, PA. I gave an introductory lecture, Street Art 101, before the opening of …in the house…, a solo show he curated of work by stikman.

#mocatvupload - Art in the Streets. September 2013. I served as a judge in the #mocatvupload contest organized by The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.

Nuart. September 2012. Stavanger, Norway. I spoke at the Nuart Plus and gave a tour of Stavanger’s street art and murals with Jordan Seiler. I also gave a presentation titled Street Art in the Age of Digital Reproduction in conjunction with presentations by Evan Pricco and Tristan Manco about street art in virtual space, followed by a panel discussion with Evan, Tristan, and myself. Finally, I debated Carlo McCormick and Evan Pricco on the validity of the internet as a place to experience art.

Living Walls Conference. August 2012. Atlanta, GA. I spoke at the Museum of Design Atlanta on a panel about gender issues in street art and organized a movie night.

Haverford College. April 2011. Haverford College, Haverford, PA. I organized and moderated the panel discussion Street Communications with Gaia, Jordan Seiler, Marc Schiller, and Sara Schiller.

RJ's Street Art London. Babelgum, October 2009 - June 2010. I hosted (and in some cases shot) a web TV series about street art for Babelgum.com. The series included episodes in London, Miami, and Zambia, and content ranged from documenting street artists at work to tours of exhibitions to interviews to seeking out and explaining certain pieces of street art and graffiti.
